Gold Medal Performance

I’ve always wanted to be really great at something. When I’m at the ballet, I think about how I want to be a prima ballerina dancing in the Nutcracker. When I go to the symphony I imagine I have become the concert pianist my mother dreamed I would be. And, when I am watching the Olympics, I visualize me as the fastest female runner in the world.

Sadly, I haven’t yet realized my dreams in any of these areas. But, you will be happy to know that back in the 80’s I did actually achieve greatness. (Those who know me well will not be surprised to hear that this standout performance is in relation to my hair.)

Check out this photo I just found at my mom’s house.

Wow.

I am confident there are not many people on this earth who could get their bangs as big as I did. I mean look at those things. They are at least three inches off my head. They're spectacular. Seriously dorky facial expression though. And, the eyebrows. Ick. Oh, well – can’t win ‘em all.

So - what do you think – gold medal hair??

I think you definitely achieved greatness with those!! My hair...well let's just say my mom did my hair the same when I was little. I think you beat her though, hands down!

I remember many spending nights playing with your hair while you were babysitting. We loved it! So it served a good purpose...haha, entertaining a bunch of little girls for hours!

Actually, I think my bangs could have given your bangs a run for the money. My brother used to call them "the brick wall." Yes, they were solidly held in place with half a bottle of hair spray each day. How did this look become in style?? At least you have a cute face!
