Mr. Right

If my last post inspired you and you’ve decided you want to join the elite group of Match-Makers (it’s not really elite, everyone I know and many who I don’t know have tried to line me up), I thought I’d tell you what I am looking for . . .

Must Have (in order of importance):

  1. Dedicated to God
  2. Really great sense of humor
  3. Ability to love and be kind to me
  4. Smart
  5. Hard worker
  6. Loves children

If that great guy you know meets this threshold, please feel free to read (and follow) The Rules.

Additional food for thought . . .

Nice to Have (random order):

  1. Handi-man (ability to fix the car and stuff around the house)
  2. Likes sports – playing and watching
  3. Great singing voice (preferably baritone or bass)
  4. Loves movies
  5. Loves to read
  6. Believes in giving me flowers once in a while
  7. Typically conjugates verbs properly
  8. Realizes that taking out the trash is the man’s job and does it without being asked
  9. Has a good job (this doesn’t mean makes a lot of money)
  10. Likes to be healthy and stay fit (it would be really nice if his arms are bigger than mine)
  11. Sends me out to shop for new clothes (AND shoes) once in a while
  12. Wants to build me a cabin near Hebgen Lake
  13. Is willing to go fly fishing with my brothers
  14. And, it wouldn’t hurt if he looks like Brad Pitt. Ha-ha-ha. On second thought, I don’t want people to think I won him in a raffle . . . (what movie is that from??)

So when I first saw the post title "Mr. Right" I naturally (and most humbly, I assure you) assumed that you were referring to someone exactly like, but alas not, me.

Therefore, with that assumption commonly agreed to, I would like to comment on the merits and flaws of your list. I apologize for the length.

Must have:

1. Yes! Very important.
2. Yes, but only if others find him humorous. (If his comedic bone is only recognized by a couple of people that includes himself and immediate family, it doesn't count).
3. Well that should be #1 really.
4. Check. That will do.
5. Yes unless he can be a hardworker without working hard. Recall, for example, my rare ability to work an 8-hour day in just under 5 hours.
6. Well I think you have to say "most of the time" here. Sometimes they make that very difficult.

Nice to have:
1. I disagree on this one. There is nothing wrong with bringing in the professional and being humble enough to admit the need. Plus I suck at all of it and still can be a Mr. Right.
2. Yes, though I would reverse the order. (old bones and whatnot)
3. Ha! This should be stricken from the list. Nothing good can come of it.
4. Yes, especially those at the $1 movie or those that appear in the red-box.
5. Yes, but you have to include listening to books on cd as reading.
6. Yes, but don't ask where they came from.
7. Ain't ain't a word I always says.
8. Fine. but be prepared to get assigned a woman's job (without being asked) in return.
9. Yes. But don't be too afraid to let him follow his dream (even if it's a bit risky)
10. Please clarify. Liking to be healthy and stay fit is different than actually doing so. I am an example of a Mr. Right who likes it but doesn't practice it so much. (Though I promise my arms are bigger than yours - perhaps not for the right reason?)
11. Mr. Right would be happy to go with you and NOT complain (And will not complain if you find time to buy him some Chinese food or an Orange Julius at the mall)
12. Again I think this needs clarification (difference between want to do and do). Still if you have the means the cabin should be made.
13. Yep
14. Rather, I know Brad wishes he looked like me (or in this case, someone exactly like me)

By the length of your comment you must have already finished your eight hour work day for today.
