Third Time's the Charm

Recently, I got an e-mail from a guy I’ve been out with three times. He told me that he considered the friendship exclusive and said I could “google” this BIG word to find out more information. I mention this as education for those ignorant like me – not to mock this poor fellow, because he is actually a really nice guy. Here’s what you can learn from Google about EXCLUSIVE . . .

  • News story publicized in only a newspaper or television/radio station
  • Sole; limited to a selected few; incompatible; fashionable; unique (Did someone say FASHIONABLE??)
  • Not divided or shared with others; "they have exclusive use of the machine"; "sole rights of publication" (I like this no sharing concept)
  • Not taking into the account; excluding from consideration; opposed to inclusive; as, five thousand troops, exclusive of artillery.
  • Excluding much or all; especially all but a particular group or minority: "exclusive clubs"; "exclusive restaurants and shops" (SHOPPING?? . . . YES!!)

Well, you get the idea. I did too. He was suggesting that he pay for me to go on a fashionable shopping spree where everything is for me and I don’t have to share. The press will be there, and a bunch of handsome men in uniform (“5000 troops”). Very generous considering that we’ve just been out three times, but who am I to say no to free shoes!

If I were single I would probably ask, "Does this dude have a sister?" But since I am married I cannot think of anything brilliant to say.
