Have you ever had times in your life where you've felt like the best you could do was to just keep breathing? Where the trials, or pressure, or stress, or burden, or sadness was so big and weighing down so heavily upon you that just taking those breaths was a big effort?
Well, I have. And I know many others who have had those times as well. A few years back, there was a song by Anna Nalick that I played over and over in my car....But you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable, And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table. No one can find the rewind button now; Sing it if you understand...and breathe, just breathe....
That song was a temporary help then. But, my universal and much more effective cure-all is found in some words from the prophet Nephi, in The Book of Mormon:
Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life. (2 Nephi 31:20)
I love this! I think Nephi, who surely endured much, understood well the feeling of being weighed down and knew what to do. Now I replace the "just breathe" with "just keep pressing forward!!!"
#18 on my list of Favorite Things is 2 NEPHI 31:20.
